This months class was a bit of a challenge. Not because I don't like picture books, in fact I buy them for myself sometimes, not my daughter. My wish list on Amazon is extensive. I had hit a wall. So I started just sketching and being happy with the elements, but time, work and stress were a challenge too.
My goal for this month is too try and draw everyday if not every weekend.
Final submission for the class.
Wanted to explore more with color
Not where I wanted it to be but close
I enjoy exploring colors, I have sketches of the different angles just didn't have time to finish the 3/4 and frontal views that is required when developing characters.
Albeit a creative hermit. This project was part of MATS Bootcamp, run by artist and rep Lilla Rogers. I took the project in a different direction or at least my own interpretation of it.
Show own of hands for creative hermits and introverts.
Final image as wall art.
The initial sketch.
As a "hermit" I find I spend a lot of time escaping in my own mind. I wanted to explore a way to show journey, quiet, space even when there is none around us.
maybe it's because I work in an open space environment that I crave escape more now than ever. Show of hands for the introverts.
Making the visual as a card and exploring a pattern on the back.
If printed I'd add a gold foil finish to the edges.
Growing up in a culture of myth and legends such as the Salmon of knowledge and Tir ná nÓg, I've always been fascinated with magical creatures.
I started doodling and decided to play around with color and finish.
Basic color, less shading.
More depth and color in main and shading.
